*Whoa! The lines have changed significantly in 24 hours. Virginia Tech is -3.5 at Caesar's and Westgate and -4 on Unibet. That's more like it.

Holy Hokie, I am seldom shocked by Vegas point spreads this late in the season; after the first couple of weeks I think they get a good read on teams and I would have guessed Pitt would be a slight favorite next Saturday, just a point or two, because they have been consistently overrated (Orange Bowl; 10-2). But no. VaTech opened as a 6.5 point favorite! As I wrote twice yesterday I predict Pitt will lose that game but I am still shocked at that robust spread. Pitt has lost to UVA by 16, but led at the half, and at PSU by 7, and had a real chance to win. Every game that Pitt has played, win or lose, has been close! For investors to make money on VaTech the "Hokies" would have to win by at least as much as PSU did in Moonie Valley. I'm not willing to go there.
