There are still fourteen days left until inauguration. The coup d'etat is not over. Trump can continue to inflict "blows of state". Not least, he can pardon himself and all those named as involved in the coup today and in coming days.

Trump and the coup participants have already won. They have humiliated Congress, Democrats, pro-democracy Americans and the United States before the entire world. They are celebrating tonight. To let this blow go unpunished would be to legitimize it and to embolden the perpetrators to inflict future blows.

This must not go unanswered.

To prevent Trump from pardoning those active in the coup today, they should not be arrested until Trump's removal from office.

Therefore, right now, Pence and the cabinet should be drafting and signing the necessary declaration to  invoke the 25th Amendment and transmit same to the President pro tempore of the Senate to remove Trump from office.

Immediately after the electoral vote count is read out members of the House should be drafting articles of impeachment. The House immediately should vote and impeach Trump and the Senate immediately vote and convict him and remove him from office.

All law enforcement agencies and their personnel should be investigated and held accountable for their criminal acts and inaction today.
