Jump in Consumer Prices Raises Stakes in Inflation Debate

The increase in the Consumer Price Index was well above forecasts. A top Fed official acknowledged the surprise but said ‘this is one data point.’

Well, it's not though! This is two "data points" after the jobs report disastrously under-performed forecasts. I don't know because I don't know shit but the Biden administration's line that the economy is so big now that it has outgrown inflation sounds too clever by half. The president is going to have no shot at getting his infrastructure bill passed even by Dems only unless these data points are revealed to be aberrations in next months stats.
