FT LAC 112 MIA 109

The "Heat" still can't shoot, 44.3% (22%), played adequate scoring defense, LAC 47.3% (29.7%), Duncan Robinson continues to just kill the team, 2/13 (2/11), Tyler started alongside in place of Jimmy and went 11/23 but 0/6 from range for 23 points. Bam had a monster night, 19 points in the first quarter alone, and finished with 30 and 11. In an off-and-on season so far Kyle was on last night, 25 points on 9/17 (4/10), 5 assists but four turnovers. Nobody else on the roster was in double digits scoring. The "Clippers" had five.

The "Heat's" top guns from downtown went 2/17. Tyler's o-fer was atypical but Duncan is, now through 12 games, a constant cement block on the team's feet: 32.5% (31.2%). "Show me a starter," I dared in a previous post, on a better than .530 team, with comparable shooting numbers who contributes nothing other than his shooting to his team's success. I don't think you can.

Spoelstra had no choice last night but to play Duncan in Jimmy's absence but when Jimmy comes back how long can this renowned Tinkerer stay with this deadweight in his starting five? The team is already swooning. You have to move Tyler into the lineup and drop Duncan to the bench.

This team this season is what it was the last two seasons: one all-star, one borderline all-star and flotsam and jetsam. Championships in the Association are won by teams that have three Hall of Famers on their rosters, that's the rule of thumb. We don't have one of those. A Hall of Famer whose Hall of Fame resume was made on a previous team but who now is beyond his prime (Kyle) doesn't count. This is not a championship team.
