The "Suns" led by as many as 27 in the 4th before the subs were put in and blew the "Heat" out of Bang Bus 111-90. The weirdest stat at the half is the most shocking stat at full time: rebounds. PHO dominated the glass. PHO had 55 rebbes to Miami's 38. I don't ever remember seeing that with this Miami core before! It's embarrassing. Now, we didn't have Jimmy and Jimmy would have given us several more rebounds probably. And we lost Caleb Martin midway through the second with a hyperextended knee. Caleb had 3 rebbes in the 10' he played. With their defensive prowess Caleb and Jimmy together would have kept the "Suns" from running away and absolutely hiding in the 3rd when they outscored us by 15. Not enough to close the rebound gap significantly nor to make up for the 21 point loss. We still would have lost, undoubtedly. PHO's three centers, Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee had 10 and 15 respectively. Ten is Ayton's season average but 15 is more than double McGee's! Their third, Biyombo, had 1 in 3' in garbage time. Our three centers, Bam, our starter, had only 6; he's averaging 10.3. Our first backup center, Dedmon, had 4; he's averaging 6.3. And our third, Yertseven, had 3--but in only 4' of garbage time. Combined, PHO's centers had twice as many rebounds as ours did. The disparities in McGee's total tonight vs his season average and in Bam's and Dedmon's suggest to me that PHO had some scheme that Miami had never seen to this effect, maybe some physically bullying boxout schmee that kept Miami's centers away from the basket. If it was schematic all credit, enormous credit, to the "Suns'" coaching staff and particularly to JaVale McGee. They did a number on Spo and his assistants and just massacred us on the boards.. Clapout to the "Suns", worthy victors, worthy champions if they get it.
