Another COVID-19 surge will hit the U.S. this fall, Dr. Fauci warns

There will likely be an uptick in COVID-19 cases in the next few weeks, but a true coronavirus surge will happen this fall, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

The news: Bloomberg TV’s David Westin asked Fauci about the potential for a new coronavirus outbreak in the United States from the BA.2 variant.

  • Fauci said the United States often lags behind the United Kingdom, which has seen a recent surge in cases.
  • The BA.2 variant — a subvariant of the omicron variant — and opening up by loosening restrictions will contribute to an uptick in cases, Fauci said, per CNN

We need to have these terms clarified: "uptick," "bimp," "breakout", "surge," "wave." On common, non-xpert (although, do any of these terms sound "scientific" to you?), understanding I would rank "uptick" as slightly below "bimp" but essentially synonymous; "breakout" as more localized, may a "surge" at the local level but not nationally; "surge", which Dr. Fauci predicts for the fall, is clearly worse. Doc used all the usual terms except "wave," the worst of the forensic terms of art, and the Derelict New York Times', derelict like the city in which it publishes, favorite term is "wave" which "is coming" no doubt about that a'tall. Because the New York Times SUCKS, no doubt about that a'tall neither.
