Toronto beat Philadelphia 119-114. Tight game. Pascal Siakam led the winners with 37, which was also game-high. Gary Trent, Jr. had 30. The "Raptors" shot very well, 49.5% (45.5%). Could be Phil didn't play well defensively but both of these teams are damned good. "Sixers" are 4th, Toronto 6th. It was in Toronto. Phil actually shot very similarly and significantly better from range, 49.3% and 52.8%. Toronto took 91 shots from the floor to Phil's 75. That's quite a disparity and was the difference. Don't know why. Phil turned it over 16 times to Tonto's 10. Toronto outrebounded them but just by 4. Eh, unless I read otherwise it was just a tight game between two good teams. Joel had 30 and 10 for the silver medalists. Electric Maxey had 22 on 7/11 (4/5). James shot poorly, 3/12 (1/4) but he is such a great player that as noted at halftime he realized his shot was not there tonight and turned to distributor. Boy did he ever: 15 assists to only 3 t.o.'s. That from your shooting guard. Electric Maxey was the nominal point guard. Just two good teams.

Two more good teams in Beer tonight in a dumhinger. Male Deer prevailed 127-121. They led by five at the end of 3Q and just outscored Beans by one in the final frame. Three guys total had 29 points, two on Male Deer, one on Beans. Like the above game, both teams shot well, losers had a few more t.o.'s and a few less rebbes but the difference again was in number of shots. Beer had 97 to Beans' 87. Association teams score 1.-something points per possession, I don't remember the exact average number. but even at 1 per, that's 10 extra points for Beer.

The Association at its best tonight in these two games.
