Nebraska Loss to Ga. Sou.

Sam McKeown, Omaha World-Herald, said in his post-game wrap, "If they can beat Oklahoma, maybe, maybe" Frost saves his job. "You're saying there's a chance." Yes, that is what Sam is saying, and I think he speaks the mind of many, many Nebraska fans. Like another Nebraska fan who wrote on Twitter when it looked like Nebraska might win, “Maybe a one-point win over Georgia Southern will turn out to be the turning point of the season.”

“Maybe” this is different. Tom Shatel of the O W-A sees a fanbase that is “beyond restless”, “so on edge and angry.” “Revolution” and “Nebraska” seem to me opposites of the most extreme kind. It’s hard, actually impossible, for me to conceive of  “FROST OUT!” protests like “GLAZERS OUT” in the Manchester suburbs.

Nebraska people are not stubborn or brain-dead, they are rational and can read the numbers on a scoreboard and in a box score. There's not another fan base in the country like them. They're married, is what they are. Till death do us part. "Yeah, Jim and I are going through a patch the last 12 years or so." "Divorce him? Jim?! No. Absolutely not. I love him, we'll get through.” They're not going to ride Scott Frost out of town on a rail—I don’t think.—anymore than they would their spouse.

It's never over. They never, ever give up on their "Huskers.". "We just have to go out and beat OU." When you marry you become one with your other. They're married to Nebraska football. They'll get up and go to church tomorrow and work on Monday and love their spouses and children and neighbors and their "Huskers." "BEAT OU"! That's the kind of people they are. I think Sam speaks for a lot of Nebraska fans. That's why I love Nebraska people. But this time, maybe a great shift has occurred. They’ll let us know.
