Nebraska pencils are treating Friday night's win over Rutgers--Rutgers!--as if they just upset the number one team in the country:

The Bandwagon rambles on, through a pothole on the Jersey turnpike, gathering passengers and momentum and chugging fearlessly straight ahead.

Bandwagon: tyoo wins "in a row." Tyoo.

Through six games, Nebraska is 3-3 and in first place in the Big Ten West. And now three wins from bowl eligibility.

Crazy? Maybe. Enjoy the moment. Dream the dream.

But if the defense keeps making plays, Casey Thompson keeps locating Trey Palmer and Mark Whipple can find Anthony Grant on third-and-1, anything seems possible.

What a night. What a season. What a story.

 

And New Jersey pencils are treating it like Rutgers was #1 and just lost to Rutgers:

This Rutgers loss to Nebraska in one word: Inexcusable

 Is sucking excusable?

...Nebraska was up, 14-13, and facing a third-and-11 with four minutes left. The Scarlet Knights needed more than the football.

They needed an intervention.

...given how this second half unfolded at SHI Stadium, it was a fitting way for the Scarlet Knights to lose what was a must-win game. 

When you can’t spell shit without the name of your stadium, maybe you haven’t played in a “must-win” game in your entire history? 

The same word [inexcusable] sums up this entire loss.

How did Rutgers blow a 13-0 lead at halftime against a Nebraska program that fired its head coach three weeks into the season? With the usual offensive ineptitude, befuddling personnel decisions and a level of quarterback play that wouldn’t fly in the Patriot League. ...

It is worse that all of this happened six games into Schiano’s third season. The Scarlet Knights are 3-3 now, and barring a quick reversal following the bye week against a brutal schedule, will take a step back this season.

Nebraska is 3-3 too and that's a "dream" for them!

This was a bad loss, to a bad team, with as bad an end-game sequence as we’ve seen in Piscataway in long time. Inexcusable.
