Unbelievably Stupid

Tackle football is the most cerebral sport. There are so many moving parts: 11 players each on offense and defense plus a punter and place kicker, new play calls on both offense and defense every 40 secs or so, and a coaching staff that numbers in the high single digits, are among the complexities. You have to be intellectually nimble and creative to be a skilled coach or analyst.

All of which makes this statement, by Roddy Jones, a former college player at Georgia Tech and now analyst for the ACC and ESPN, honestly the dumbest thing I can ever remember reading on the Miami "Hurricanes":

“But let’s be honest, we’re kind of getting to the point where you have to ask yourself: Did Miami just catch lightning in a bottle for 20 years? Because outside of those 20 years — and it was the highest of highs — it’s not like Miami is a program with a history or tradition like say, Tennessee, where 20 years of mediocrity can be excused."...

Those are unbelievably stupid comments.
