But want to know why the Cavs are down 3-1 in this best-of-seven playoff series to the Knicks?
It’s because New York has been beating Cleveland at what is supposed to be Cleveland’s own game: fanatical support. [Head coach JB] Bickerstaff calls it “grit” or “the scrap.” It’s packing the FieldHouse for a watch party. It’s hustling tickets. It’s picking up floor burns pursuing spare change.
Of course X’s and O’s matter, but that’s not the difference in this series between two evenly matched teams.
It’s more about Cleveland’s heart and soul. That has been the discouraging part of this series. New Yorkers have cheered harder, screamed “Cleveland Sucks” louder – and swarmed 7th Avenue in support of the Knicks.
It’s up to Cavs fans to support this team with grit and scrap and determination in a sold out Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. The players deserve at least that much.
