I don’t think that last is 💯 true, close though. There IS strategy involved in choosing to sit the starters. The thinking, I think it’s absurd, but the thinking is that when this team is whole and healthy they can beat anybody, as they did in gobbling down 🧀 Thursday night. The absurdity of that thinking is at least three-fold: First, that they beat a whole, healthy, and engaged “Sixers” bunch. They didn’t. Doc Rivers said afterwards that his team didn’t come ready to play, that it was just "practice" for them. The second is that chimera, the mysterious, always seen, never found, “switch” that can be turned on with a flick and voila, it’s the Bubble team again or the 2022 playoffs again. And third, the absurd thinking is counter-historical. 45 wins (on average) FOR NINE STRAIGHT SEASONS is who the "Heat" are. They are even a slightly lesser "Heat" now with 43 or 44 wins the only two possible totals. 601 Biscayne feeds these hallucinations by stating that they will evaluate the roster after all the games have been played. All of this has produced a predictable counter-narrative, in this instance the pusher is Kendrick Perkins, that the Boston “Celtics” ought to “PRAY” they don’t meet the “Heat” in the play-offs because we are soo dangerous and because Erik Spoelstra will school Joe Mazzulla. The “Celtics”, Perk said, are on “upset alert”. Just a couple of years ago I heard Winderman say the same thing about Milwaukee. We had beaten them in the Bubble in the playoffs and the "last thing" the “Bucks” wanted was to play Miami again. Over and over again Winderman said that on a FiveReasonsSports podcast. The “Bucks”🧹 us 4-0. Boston has gotten better by at least five games from last season to this while Miami has regressed by a shocking nine or ten games (depending on the outcome of the G-League “Fan Appreciation” contest). See a silver lining there if your eyes allow you but my 20/400’s see a green romp.
