Nearly two hundred years ago the proudest boast was "I am a Republican." Today, MAGA World, the proudest boast is "I am ANTIFA."
There are many people in the world who really don't understand, or say they don't, what is the great issue between the free world and MAGA World. Let them come to Washington. There are some who say that MAGA is the wave of the future. Let them come to Washington. And there are some who say in Washington and elsewhere we can work with the Republicans. Let them come to America. And there are even a few who say that it is true that MAGA World is evil, but we should understand their joy. Let them come to Washington!
Freedom has many difficulties and democracy is not perfect, but we have never had to put a wall up to keep people out, to prevent them from coming here. I want to say, on behalf of the Democratic Party, who live many miles away on the other side from MAGA World, who are far distant from Fascists, that we take the greatest pride that we have been able to share with you, even from a distance, the story of America. I know of no country, that has been besieged for 8 years that still lives with the vitality and the force, and the hope and the determination of America. While MAGA World is the most obvious and vivid demonstration of the failures of the Republican Party, for all the world to see, we take no satisfaction in it, for it is, as has been said, an offense not only against history but an offense against humanity, separating families, dividing husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, and dividing a people who are joined together.
What is true of Washington is true of America--real, lasting peace can never be assured as long as one American out of two is denied the elementary right of free men, and that is to make a free choice. In 8 years of extremism and violence, this generation of Americans has earned the right to be free of MAGA extremism. We live on a divided island of freedom, but our lives are part of the main. So let me ask you as I close, to lift your eyes beyond the dangers of today, to the hopes of tomorrow, beyond the freedom merely of your city, or your town, to the advance of freedom everywhere in America, beyond the Wall to the day of peace with justice, beyond yourselves and ourselves to all Americans.
Freedom is indivisible, and when one man is a MAGA extremist, all are not free. When all are free, then we can look forward to that day when your city will be joined as one with this country and this great country of America in a peaceful and hopeful world. When that day finally comes, as it will, the people of the Democratic Party can take sober satisfaction in the fact that they were in the front lines for eight years.
All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of America, and, therefore, as a free man, I take pride in the words "I am ANTIFA."
