And if the 2023 Michigan football team is allowed to play in Houston on January 8 and emerges victorious, no eventual punishment will delete that accomplishment from the universe.  

I agree and that sentiment informed my writing Saturday that were I a CFP voting member I would not vote Michigan into the playoff. But how long can that credibly last? There are right now only five undefeated teams left at the top of the polls. Bumping Michigan down while elevating undefeated Washington, from a Power Five conference, needs no justification. But one of those top five is going to lose, either Michigan or Ohio, and Washington has a very tricky indeed game at no. 12 Oregon State Saturday. What if they lose? What if Billy Naps saves his job with a win in the Swamp over Half Ass U? What if Michigan, as expected, beats Ohio? If any of those contingencies become reality it breaks credulity to keep the "Wolverines" out.
