I never liked him on the "Heat". I can say that now since I said it repeatedly the last three years. 1) The hype: "The Kyle Lowry Effect"π. 2) The height. If you're going to be short (6'0") you better have...3) The speed. Kyle didn't. 4) The age (35 when we got him). 5) The salary (28.3M) 6) Most of all, he production (lack): 13.4, 11.2, 8.2 (ppg). And,
7) He didn't seem to want to be here. What were all of those "personal days" last season (or was it 2021/22 and 2022/23)? We (the public) never found out. His family is in Toronto, he wanted to be in Toronto. The straw that broke it was this late shoot-around. We had just played in Toronto. He asked if he could come back, not with the team, but alone. Permission granted. Then, not the next day but the day after that he comes back late. Oh, that just won't do.
Completely different cities, Miami and Toronto (different countries too). The "Heat" are ultra-edgy, as is the town. We (both) fight. Kyle is a nice guy. Went to a nice school, Villanova. Kyle doesn't fight; Villanova people don't fight. I remember the deer-in-the-headlights look on Kyle's face during the Jimmy-Spo-U.D. near fist fight on the bench during a timeout. Kyle struck me as a laid-back guy, Toronto strikes me as a laid-back city, I don't think Miami or the "Heat" were his cup.
