Nearly every week the AP voters use their authority to bitch-slap a supposably elite team for an underwhelming performance against an overmatched opponent. They boxed Nike's ears last week after a close win over Idaho. But this week there are so many bitches to slap theys hand gonna get sore. Meeshagan (10) reasonably may disappear from the T-25. The University of Our Lady of the Lake (5) will get dunked into the lower half, at least; what will the cognoscenti do with Nike this week? (I don't think drop them agayne.) Paterno-Sandusky (8)? Measured by result compared to line, the worst showing by a high-rent resident of the bunch. Non Competitive State were 24th, they may not get a vote among "others". Oklahoma (15) had a close call at home against Houston We Have A Problem. Okie State (16) needed two OTs to put away the Hogs. Kansas State (17) by only 7 down on the Bayou agin' Toolame. 19-Kansas falling to Illinoise, Iowa (21) to Iowa State at home, Georgia Tech, overrated at 23, losing up in Upstate New York. It is a MESS.
One team's misfortune is another's opportunity and where there is a plethora of misfortune there is plenty of opportunity. Olé Mississippi will zoom; Tennessee, too; It's Portal Time Y'all will escape the bottom of the rankings; SoCal, Miami Gardens, Mizzou and Utah, although beating overmatched opponents will rise of necessity. Nebraska will certainly enter the rankings; My beloved Pitt "Panthers" will get some votes; Boston College will certainly become one of the 25, deservedly, although also of necessity; Iowa State will enter the lower reaches. There are going to be pencils and erasers worn out reconfigurating the rankings, I know that's right.
