The referee on the baseline, the closest to the play, on the egregious Hardaway Jr. no call was crew chief David Guthrie who made the post-game confession of error for the entire crew. It's the crew chief's responsibility to make the announcement whichever referee was the closest to the play.
The no call was game-deciding, likely series-deciding and was so clearly wrong that I researched it last night.
That is Guthrie, referee no. 16.
I post this not to inflame the Detroit fan base against Guthrie but rather to absolve another referee in the game who has been the target of Detroit fans' ire.
