Dr. Ana and I again had a tremendous day. I have been so pleasantly surprised that she, with the greatest distraction that she can have (her parents visiting), has been...non-distracted. Not even in speech or thought. We have worked every day since Sunday, her parents arrived last Friday. I thought we would only do flashcards the two weeks that they are here, but yesterday and today, 30 fact pattern questions. Today on the 15 questions she got a correct score of 87% with little to know research on any of them.
Ana told me today that there is a new girl in the chat group, that she had just moved to Miami, that her husband had already matched for residency, and that she was crying at the adjustment to her new world, where she was "nobody", from her old, in brazil, where she had such a great life as a doctor.
I say this because as I have said over and over and over again, the changes that Ana has gone through in the last two years since coming to Miami are as fundamental as anyone can go through, that USMLE is beyond the ken, that it is the longest, most arduous, loneliest trek, that "Everyone needs a David".
