Amid rumors that he would leave https://twitter.com/i/status/1225194276319113216 Pitt to be head coach at Michigan State Pat Narduzzi landed for our Beloved Tackling Panthers the consensus 44th-ranked recruiting class in the land.
Duzz just finished his fifth year at the Confluence. He is signed through 2024 (extended seven years by current A.D. Heather Lyke in 2017). The most star studded recruiting class Pat has had was ranked 29th, that in his first year. He has a cumulative record of 36-29, 55% wins. Coincidentally by an identical 55%-45% I hope Pitt's Pat stays put.
I like Pat; I lyke Heather. I do believe Heather, whom Pat with good--excellent-- reason called "the best athletic director in the country," should put down some markers for Pat's extended tenure at Pitt, or let him walk. Lyke, "Thou willeth have a top-25 rated recruiting class in one of the next two years." A modest marker that for a head coach's sixth and seventh fucking years. Or, "Thou willleth have a top-25 finish in either poll in one of the next two years" (We're a modest people.). Since Pat guaranteed in December that Pitt will win the ACC championship in two years, he should pass the latter marker in a stroll. But without either of those two modest markers, after five years we know what to expect, and isn't the definition of insanity repeating behavior and expecting a different result? (We're not insane.)
