You want another art review?

Oh! I forgot to check on City...oh yeah. What else is there to do? Tocqueville was sooo right that every four years Americans work themselves into a fever. Especially when it's Covid 19 fever and national life is shutting down.

So, E.J. Dionne  has a piece in WaPo today. Just my personal opinion: I don’t think that he's right. I don’t think Biden needs Sanders. Bernie Bros are turned off by Biden as a tool of the establishment and as "over the hill"(77). Their guy, Bernie, is 78. Write that term paper again millennials and correct the factual errors. The incredible turnout surge on Super Tuesday was middle class suburban, not urban millennial. The surgers trust and like the calm, no drama, reassuring comfort of someone they know. The are turned on by, and turned out for, the establishment. They are frightened by Trump's Low Lifes and by Sanders’ moonies.

For that reason and because neither brings a state I personally think it would be a mistake to select Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren as vp candidate. I truly think the Dems need a “bridge” ticket top AND bottom with another elder—white, black, male, female, Republican, or Democrat—establishment figure who has universal credibility and name recognition as the veep candidate. This is a bridge over very troubled waters. It must be built solidly, not with green sticks.

Dionne’s math gives pause. If Dems do as well in 2020 as they did in 2018 they will just squeak by in the E.C. That is the case for “We Want A State” and there is little margin for error. But turnout in 2020 will be higher than in 2018 and it looks likely to be much higher, maybe record higher and that points to a Biden rout not a squeaker. Show me the empirical evidence of a vp bringing a state and that so-and-so this year will bring a state and that's the way the Dems should go. But that is not Harris or Warren. Stacey Abrams? Would she bring Georgia? Show me. On the flip side if the Dems got a National Emergency veep candidate (say Jim Clyburn, Romney, McRaven, Brennan, ?Anthony Fauci?, Condi Rice) he/she would appeal in every state and could bring not just “a” state but tip several, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. the Dems way.
