The Election is Meaningless, the Country is Gone*caveat

When Donald Trump got onto the stage to accept the Republican nomination for president this week, he goaded his supporters into chanting "12 more years," not "four more years." And they did.

It tops off a profoundly frightening month in which Trump

said he could postpone the election,
threatened to send police to polling stations,
sent secret federal agents into cities to attack peaceful protesters, and

tried to sabotage the post office to suppress the vote.

“If people were given the choice between democracy and whiteness, how many would choose whiteness?"
-Taylor Branch, quoted in Caste by Isabel Wilkerson.

The answer is 60,000,000 and a democracy cannot function with so many committed anti-democrats. Joe Biden's election would, of course, make things better at the edges but it would do nothing to solve the problem of Trumpism--those 60,000,000 anti-democrats are not going away. A democratic election with so many who choose racial identity over democracy is not a “real” election, it is Potemkin fronting for fascist substance, fundamentally meaningless.

*Unless there is a blue tsunami, an FDR, LBJ, Ronald Reagan blue tsunami. That would get the country back. But that is impossible with 60,000,000 who choose whiteness over democracy. The country is gone. I haven’t followed the news all day, haven’t posted—even about the Trump Epidemic. Almost deleted this blog today. Maybe would have if I could have saved the contents for myself. I have lost a lot of interest in the country. Thought of moving out of the country, lol. Actually checked housing prices in the Bahamas. I was born in a democratic Republic. It is now a fascist state. I have 5, 10, maybe 15 years left. I don’t want to live in a fascist state and I don’t want to die on fascist soil.
