There are times, I am sure, in every successful candidate's mind when the breathtaking responsibility washes over them. Obama had it. FDR had it. Lincoln. At those times they wonder, "What have I done?" I hold that not since FDR and I really believe not since Lincoln has a successful candidate had the crises, three of them existential, that Joe Biden has waiting for him. More than once I have thought "If I was him I'd say I'm not serving."
