Russia’s Missile Test Fuels U.S. Fears of an Isolated Putin
I have reconsidered several times my "Lincoln's Second Inaugural" post of April 16. As I wrote then I didn't take revision off the table. But I did not revise it. In my view now we should provoke Putin. You read that right...No, I am not drunk. We warned him ahead of time. We did exactly what we warned him we would do. He and his anthropoid lap dogs have constantly played the nuclear card on us and Europe. We have constantly declined not to match apocalyptic rhetoric and action with apocalyptic rhetoric and action. Americans don't "fear". We just don't. Our custodians in government fear for us and that is the way it should be. One doesn't threaten America. Do not threaten us. No American wants nuclear war but if Vladimir Putin continues to threaten it Americans would rather fight than give in to threats and fear. And the war may come.
The Soviets had, and their indistinguishable Russian Federation successors have, a practice the opposite of ours: they reciprocate. We expel their diplomats; they expel an equal number of our diplomats--regardless of the merits. We accuse them of human rights violations; they deflect by observing "And you lynch Negroes." We're human not anthropoid; we don't want war, they do. And so we decline to match threats. They see that as weakness.
They say they are in an existential struggle. They are not but they say that and act on that basis. Therefore, I think we should make real their existential fears. President Biden should give a prime time address to the nation. He should lay all of this bare before the American public, the constant threats, use Putin's own words,
“To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside — if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history.”
"I order the defense minister and the chief of the General Staff to put Russian army deterrence forces on high combat alert."
“Like it or not — put up with it, my beauty. There's no other way.”,
the ICBM test, Putin's real aim to roll back NATO and kick the U.S. out of Europe, the 100-year history of the barbaric character of the Russian people--"They made league with Nazi Germany. Their soldiers raped women in occupied countries and murdered millions of women and children. They will kidnap Americans and transport them to Russia as they have done to Ukrainians. Their soldiers will rape American women and children and slaughter our families if we give them the chance."
The president should make clear that Russian barbarism is not a far-away threat, that in shooting at Ukraine he is aiming at Americans. He should tell us that with these threats and actions continuing and with an understanding that the war on Ukraine is merely the opening salvo of war on NATO and the U.S. that he would be derelict in his duty not to reciprocate. He should announce that he is putting our nuclear forces on high alert; that we will begin delivering offensive fighter jets and materiel to Ukraine to be used as official Ukraine thinks best, purely defensively or with attacks on Russia, inside Russia; and that we will continue reciprocating until Putin reciprocates backwards, until he stops his attacks on Ukraine. We give him an up ramp and an off ramp.
Neither party expected for the war the magnitude or the duration which it has already attained. "Woe unto the world because of offenses for it must needs be that offenses come but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh."
