Seattle beat Pumas of Mexico 3-0 in the second leg of the final to win the CONCACAF* Champions League. 68,741 "Sounders" fans were in attendance at the club's Lumen Field.
CONCACAF represents football clubs in 41 countries and is the equivalent of the European Champions League. Seattle's victory is only the third in MLS's history and the first since 2000. Mexican clubs had won the previous 16 tournaments (MLS clubs had only been runners-up in four) and Costa Rico the two before the Mexican run began. MLS' failure in this tournament has been a well-used cudgel to bash the league.*Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football
