You know what's so fucked up about this? Why do those of us who like sports like sports? Because anything can happen. "On any given Sunday". It's the surprise element. Sports are unpredictable. We work our jobs 9-5: predictable. We go home to the same old house, the same old spouse and family: predictable. We tune into March Madness and BINGO! We get Florida Titanic making a run to the Final Four. We like that. We like the unpredictability of sports.

Then there's the "Heat". Nine straight years of 45-37 and guess what our record projects to this season...

45-37

With the "Heat", even the stupendous surprise lacks surprise. Wasn't last season fun? EIGHTH! We finished EIGHTH and made it all the way to the Finals. HAHAHAHA! Now we're "all the way up" to 7th and guess what all "Heat" fans are hoping? Will it be fun this time around? YES! Will it be as fun? No. We half expect it, so it won't be a surprise. You feel like a chump as a fan if it happens again, like, why did I pay $2,000 to see that Chicago game in December. December doesn't matter with the "Heat". Expectation doesn't start building in December and crescendo in April. The whole "Heat" regular season doesn't predict anything. Why would you pay $525-$6,615 (that's the average price for a season ticket (and that is QUITE a range.)) to watch this team somnambulate through 41 games. That's predictable. You know they're going to finish 45-37. How much of a chump do you feel this season when your investment in a seat at home games decreases your chances of seeing a "Heat" win? (17-15 Home; 21-16 Away). Are you a fucking masochist? Then move to Detroit! The hard truth is that for whatever reason, lack of talent, lack of stamina, lack of willpower, there's the regular season "Heat" and then there's the playoff "Heat". "Playoff Jimmy". Jimmy only turns into superman "Himme" in the playoffs! What would be surprising this season is if they weren't predictable? How will you feel then if the "Heat" loses in the play-in or gets summarily dismissed in the first round? Will that be a fun surprise for you? No. And that is what is going to happen. The Miami "Heat" for going on ten years has been where hope goes to die.
