Key Witness Revises Testimony, Citing Quid Pro Quo With Ukraine
(NYT)
Top of the fold (if we still had folds), across three of five columns, bolded, font size as indicated.
The key witness is Gordon Sondland, officially Trump's Ambassador to the European Union, in reality just another clown in Trump's clown show. "Revised" should be in quotes.
"I now recall speaking individually with Mr. (Andriy) Yermak, [on September 1] where I said resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement [read: the FAKE anti-Biden statement] that we had been discussing for many weeks," Sondland wrote in a "revision" of his former testimony to the House Impeachment Inquiry sent last night!
In his closed-door interview last month, Mr. Sondland portrayed himself as a well-meaning and at times unwitting [he got half right] player who was trying to conduct American foreign policy with Ukraine with the full backing of the State Department while Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Trump’s lawyer, repeatedly inserted himself at the behest of the president. He also said repeatedly that he could not recall the events under scrutiny, including details about the Sept. 1 meeting, according to the 375-page transcript of his testimony.
Uh-huh. Hmm-hmm.
In the addendum, Mr. Sondland said he had “refreshed my recollection” after reading the testimony given by Mr. Taylor and Timothy Morrison, the senior director for Europe and Russia at the National Security Council.
Ho-ho-ho.
But some Democrats painted him as a lackey of Mr. Trump’s...
SWINE Democrats!
As such, Mr. Sondland’s new, fuller account is likely to complicate Republicans’ task in defending the president against the impeachment push, effectively leaving them with no argument...
Well, how about this formerly quasi-official NYT? Sen. Lindsey Graham said he's not going to read it. Said it was "B.S." Precisely as my cousin Vinny in "My Cousin Vinny said to the jury after the prosecutor completed his opening statement (which Vinny slept through)
"Everything that guy just said, it's all bullshit."
