Really? That sentence was written by "Stewart Mandel" who is a sportswriter for Sports Illustrated about Brendan Douglas of the University of Georgia. I have never heard such a thing, really. I heard, years ago, about sports people doubting African-Americans as quarterbacks in the sport. That, mercifully, is not the case any more. I think. Never heard that "most people" would instinctually doubt a "white" man as a running back. Never thought I'd read a writer for Sports Illustrated writing that, either.
