“But not Biden”

A Trump low life’s answer to Steve Schmidt: “Are you ready to move past Trump?”

They resent Biden for taking Trump away from them. Plausibly they would vote for another Democrat over Trump; more likely another Dem over another Republican. But Never Biden. They will not vote for Biden under any circumstances, no matter the opponent.

The Heats have lost three in a row. Their win percentage as a decimal translates to 46 wins over 82 games, only one win more than their season average since 2014/15. So that’s just who they are. Tonight they return to the comforts of the Bang Bus to engage with Indiannoplace, 9-7.

"Obamacare Sucks!!!"

The polls are accurate. If Americans voted next Tuesday Trumpie would likely be prez agayne. So the polls are not accurate because Americans don't vote next Tuesday but eleven months from now.

President Biden is governing, not doing much campaigning--not nearly as much as David Axelrod would like him to do. PoJo is thus a target that is not punching back much.

Biden has no real opposition. He's not debating and will not debate until after the Democratic Convention.

Trumpie has opposition. He's not debating and will not debate until after the Republican Convention.

Not debating was smart of Trumpie in securing the GOP nomination. It was also necessary because he doesn't have the stamina to campaign all across the country in the primaries. He will have to and he will have the stamina to campaign all across the country in the general election. Not debating has hurt Trumpie more than it has hurt or could hurt Biden. He says things like this. He's out of control. He's undisciplined. He would get crushed in a debate against Chris Christie or Nikki Haley. He will get crushed by Biden. And he will lose the election, as will other Republicans down ticket.

“Obamacare Sucks!!!”—Trumpie

AP:

Trump says he will renew efforts to replace ‘Obamacare’ if he wins a second term

“The cost of Obamacare is out of control, plus, it’s not good Healthcare. I’m seriously looking at alternatives. We had a couple of Republican Senators who campaigned for 6 years against it, and then raised their hands not to terminate it. It was a low point for the Republican Party, but we should never give up!”

what could be a key issue in a general election rematch between Trump and Biden if both win their parties’ nominations, as is widely expected.

Politico:

The post by Trump calling for Obamacare’s replacement has lit a fire under Biden’s slow burn campaign.

In a click of a button, a long-dormant campaign fault line was reopened.

The post lit a fire under President Joe Biden’s slow burn campaign. Significant campaign resources were quickly mobilized in response. Groups began preparing new ads calling for Obamacare’s protection. GOP lawmakers on the Hill had to take cover from inquisitive reporters asking if they backed Trump’s call. Advocacy organizations dusted off old playbooks.

...

The fallout…looms large. It didn’t just underscore how potent health care remains as a policy motivator for Democrats, but how deeply embedded the Affordable Care Act has become in the nation’s political and social fabric. It also demonstrated once again, how Trump’s impulsive social media habit remains a major variable for the coming election…

For Democrats, Trump’s renewed attacks on Obamacare amount to a political gift that some in the party said they couldn’t have timed better. The threat to “terminate” the signature health law comes amid a Biden campaign effort to highlight what Trump would do if returned to office, and portray his agenda as out of step with the vast majority of Americans.

And, in for a dime in for a dollar. NBC:

Trump doubles down, saying ‘Obamacare Sucks’ and must be replaced

Despite the GOP 2024 front-runner's call, congressional Republicans are divided on whether to pick that battle again after they tried and failed to eliminate the law in 2017.

More good news for Dems: He has the support of Ted Cruz and JD Vance!

“I would love to see us revisit it,” said Sen. Ted Cruz. …

Republicans can’t “run away from the issue.”—Vance.

Please don’t. Run to the issue and embrace it with both arms in a bear hug.

And, CNN:

“There are very few issues where Republicans are at a greater disadvantage then health care. The Biden campaign desperately wants the election to be about health care and abortion. If the election is about those two issues in 2024, then Democrats will have a great night in November,”  Ken Spain, a GOP consultant and former communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee, told CNN.

“Talk about the border. Talk about the economy. Talk about no more foreign wars. Don’t talk about health care.”—Trump-aligned operative.

Please don’t. You MUST talk about health care.

WHO?

Why did Syracuse AD John Wildhack hire a first-time coach with minimal coordinator experience?

Syracuse, N.Y. -- When Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack laid out his vision for the next Syracuse head coach less than a week ago, he said he had a strong preference for a coach who had experience as a head coach or a coordinator at the Power-Five level.

And when the school announced the hiring of Fran Brown on Tuesday, it hired a head coach who had neither of those things.

Having just written that I have no idea why some coaches succeed while others fail, who knows?

Appeals Court, Judge Engoron Re-Gag Trumpie

Because,

“Judge Engoron’s Trump Hating wife, together with his very disturbed and angry law clerk, have taken over control of the New York State Witch Hunt Trial aimed at me, my family, and the Republican Party,” Trump wrote Wednesday in a Truth Social post.

He is out of control.

From the guy who claimed the Zollner Pistons were “telling” on themselves in their one-point loss to Miami, and intrigued me.

This isn’t the same team that opened the season with a 2-1 record. You can’t tell me it is. -James L. Edwards III, The Athletic.

Well, Edwards, you can’t tell me it isn't because it is.

Following the “Pistons”—because of Edwards—is what led me to discover Sheila Hamp last night. The “Pistons” owner, whose name I don’t even remember 12 hours later, was contrasted with Hamp’s ownership of the “Lions”. I had never heard of Hamp either. But it all led me to revisit a subject that I have thought a lot about, why some sports organizations succeed and why others fail. I cannot solve the riddle of why it is so difficult to hire the right coach, for example. And in Detroit I have come to the tentative conclusion that this has to be the fault of “Pistons” coach Monty Williams—who is just one of the most respected, decorated and highest-paid coaches in the Association and in all of professional sports. How that can be I don’t know but I agree with Edwards that although the “Pistons” are bad, and that they were “telling” Edwards something he did not hear, they should not be this bad. Fifteen straight L's and I don't know what the owner can do but fire Williams. They just should not be this bad.

The Associated Press obituary on Kissinger notes at bottom, “The late AP Diplomatic Writer Barry Schweid contributed to this report.” Schweid died in 2015. 👀 They write obits in advance; I didn’t know that far in advance lol.

This is a great story, especially in the racist, sexist National Football League

This is the story of how one WOMAN, American industrial royalty, single-handedly, PERSONALLY, courageously led and rallied an entire city behind HER “process” to change one of, if not the, most moribund franchises in all of professional sports. This is the Sheila Firestone Ford Hamp moment after the Detroit “Lions” started 2022 1-5. This is when it all changed.

A year later she is spoken of reverently, “lionized”, as in this headline and podcast.

Sheila Ford Hamp CHANGED EVERYTHING for the Detroit Lions!”

This is the remarkable story of a brave, determined WOMAN changing an entire organization’s culture in the most testosterone-saturated workplace in America.

“There are tire fires and then there's whatever the hell is going on with the Pistons.”

this franchise has been a complete non-entity for almost a decade and a half. They've made the playoffs just three times since Barack Obama took office and haven't won a single game in any of them.

Adam Silver has adopted European soccer tournament rules to his new Silver Cup tourney. And that has put his Association in untenable territory. In soccer, a team advances in a "tie", a two-game home-and-away if it wins both matches (obviously), or, if each team wins one, then on the basis of goals scored difference with the emphasis on away goals scored. So if a club wins at home 2-1 then the other team advances if it wins its home game 2-0 or 3-2. Soccer's formula is of long standing and well understood by players and coaches. It does not lead to running up the score since there is so little scoring in soccer.

In Adam's formula the winner advances on total point difference in all tournament games played. For example, New York and Cleveland finished 3-1 in group play. Both won their fifth games but New York had to run the score up on Chazz 115-91 to advance. As Jaylen Brown of Boston said,

"It's tough because that's just not how the game is supposed to be played. You've got to respect your opponents."

Israel-Hamas truce enters sixth day

Benjamin Netanyahu is going woolly in the knees. He has destroyed Israel as a secular, democratic state, calving American support with it; he was MIA on October 7, and now he is being manipulated by “mediators” whose intent is to extend this truce into a de facto peace. It, and he, endanger Israel--and with it world Jewry--in an existential Armageddon.

The situation does not want clarity.

-Like the German Nazis Hamas has a clear programme calling for the destruction of the Jewish state.

-Gaza Palestinians voted overwhelmingly for Hamas, far more decisively than Germans did for the Nazi Party.

-Hamas is not merely anti-Zionist, it is the Third Reich-upon-Jordan.

-Any Palestinian state will be a beach head for the Final Solution to the Israel question.

-Ergo, there can be no two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue.

No, it is not clarity that is lacking but courage.Israel has three choices: police and enforce a demilitarized Gaza, kill, or be killed from the river to the sea.

Jewish people wherever they live are endangered by corrupt, tired, old Benjamin Netanyahu's cowardice.

The “Heat” are out of the Silver Cup😢😄

131-124 the final in Beer.

QUARTERFINALS WIN OR GO HOME!😂

HT Culture 62 Male Deer 59.

CFP Next to Last

Uno. UGA 12-0
Tyoo. Michigan Stalions 12-0
Twee. Wershington 12-0
Fo'. Half Ass U 12-0____________________

Five. Oregon 11-1
Six. Ohio 11-1
Seven. Texass 11-1
Eight. Bama 11-1

I drug it out there to include the four top schools with 1L on accounta shit might happend. O plays W in the Pac-12 Championship. Agayne. The Huskers beat the Quacks in the regular season. What happens if O wins the rematch? Half Ass U would move up to twee, O would be fo'th. Ohio doesn't have a path even in the highly unlikely event that Iowa beats the Stalions in the B1G Championship game. I don't see a highly likely Texass victory over Okie State in the Big XII title game near enough to bump them up three...unless. Bama beats UGA in the SEC championship, the Stalions lose and W loses. I don't see the "Bulldogs" falling out of the playoff even if they lose. In that--plausible--event the Stalions would be numero uno and UGA 4th. Bama would jump to fo'th with the win and losses by W, the Stalions, and Texass. In other words, t'ain't happenin'. Come this time next week I predict the Final Fo' to be 1 UGA, 2 Stalions 3 Half Ass (if O beats W) 4 O. If W wins the die will be cast unchanged from this week.

I never get asked that question, nor this one, "Is the opinion-to-reporting ratio at the Times opinion-heavy?", but I asked myself the latter question, answered in the affirmative and canceled my digital subscription. The Times engages in "consent manufacturing", a term coined by its all-time most influential columnist Walter Lippmann in his 1922 book Public Opinion. It is consent manufacturing that Jay Rosen obliquely gestures to with his "how the Times sees itself and its authority." The subject of Rosen's tweet, Paul Krugman, publicly embarrassed himself during the Obama years by writing in the Times' pages that yes, he had heard the talk that he could be the next Secretary of the Treasury but that, as a Times columnist, he already had "quasi-official" authority.

A media outlet can report news truthfully without having an opinion page with a zillion columnists. That is what the Associated Press has done since 1846. But at the Times the most popular section is the opinion page and readers have favorite columnists and rail against the others and sometimes at their own. The Times also, of course, publishes editorials, written by an unwieldy McDonald's commercial editorial board. The Times' modern approach to manufacturing consent is to have each of its opinion columnists paint with a different color on a blue-shifted political spectrum. The resulting painting is of a confusing, dull Gray Lady which overwashes reporting. Times opinionage does not speak with one voice but in a cacophony, to change the metaphor from the ocular the auditory, which drowns out the voices of the reporters. In my opinion.

A fact that goes missed: In the Palestinian state in Gaza there was no Israeli “occupation” whatsoever.
Not one inch. Not one Israeli soldier or civilian.
In 2005 Israel officially left the entire Gaza Strip to the very last inch.
We pulled out ALL Israelis and ALL IDF soldiers.
We pulled back to the 1949 borders.
At first, we applied no blockade or siege.
We handed the keys over to the Palestinian authority.
At that point they had an opportunity to turn Gaza into an amazing and beautiful state. A Singapore with beautiful beaches, hotels, tourism, business and culture.
They chose otherwise. A majority of Palestinians voted Hamas whose explicit goal is to destroy Israel.
Hamas won both in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria (aka “the West Bank”). They began shooting rockets from their new state into Israel. Tens of thousands of rockets killed children and citizens of Israel, ever since.
THEY CHOSE DEATH FOR JEWS OVER LIFE FOR PALESTINIANS.
Their goal has never been to live side-by-side Israel, but to destroy Israel.
For the past 20 years Israelis hoped again and again that our neighbours seek happiness for their families and this will ultimately moderate them.
We Israelis believe in the inherent goodness of humans. We were wrong. Dead wrong.
This is the tough reality we’re facing. This is a battle between an ideology of life and one of death.
We say “le-Haim” - to life. We say “Shalom” - peace. They say “itbach el yahud” - slaughter the Jews. This is our reality of 2023.
Let me be clear: all Israelis, wall-to-wall are now united to bring total defeat to the terrorists agents of death.
 Life will prevail over death.
Please don’t try to stop us, because we won’t until we win. Am Yisrael Chai🇮🇱
