Had not heard of Portlandia the TV show until my daughter, who, temporarily, is attending a college where the students can go barefoot to class, told me about it.
Originating in the land of mold-and-honey Portlandia is a state of mind, it can exist anywhere, anywhere that college students can go to class barefoot, anywhere that there is an excess of dietary roughage, of wheat-germ. Granola. It is a place to know about at a distance where, as my daughter said, "Mom, you know how I love Portlandia??? Well, I'm not living Portlandia."
