I also find this strange. I have been checking RealClearPolitics general election polls since after Super Tuesday--a good sample time for Joe Biden!--and I have been, and continue to be, very surprised that there is not that big a difference between Biden vs Trump and Sanders vs Trump.(?) Democrats, from South Carolina, through Super Tuesday, to tonight, have shifted dramatically and overwhelmingly in favor of Biden over Sanders. But somehow that decisive preference in the Democratic party is not mirrored in the general election polls; nor in the state polls that RCP averages. Both Biden and Sanders beat Trump nationally but not with much difference between them.

Sunday NBC/WSJ came out with their latest general election poll.

Biden 52%-Trump 43%, Biden +9%
Sanders 49%-Trump 45%...Nevermind. Goddamn it. +9% is much better than +4% for crissakes. Alright, forget that.

Swing state polls.

Monday, March 16:

Florida. Trump 48% Biden 45%. Biden -3%.
Florida  Trump 49% Sanders 42%. Sanders -7%. 4% is big but I would have thought Socialist Sanders would be dead and buried in Florida. What, are there Republican and Independent Socialist sleeper cells in Florida? How is it that Biden destroyed Sanders by 39% in Florida tonight and is only 4% better than Sanders against Trump?! Makes no sense.

Arizona. Two polls on Monday. Biden is +3 over Trump in one, +1 in the other. Trump is +1 over Sanders in the first and +3 in the second.

In the state of Goldwater. In the state of Goldwater Socialist Sanders is neck-and-neck with Donald Trump, down just a teensy bit, and Joe Biden is neck-and-neck just a teensy bit up. Now, to state the obvious, the difference there is the difference between red state and blue state but again, there is an average only 4% better that Biden does against Trump than Sanders does. In Arizona. DAMN.

Ohio. Biden beats Trump by 4%. Sanders beats Trump by 2%.

March 12:

Wisconsin. Biden +3% over Trump; Sanders +2.

And so on. There's a clear pattern in the swing state polls. Biden does about 4% better than Sanders against Trump. 4%! Yes, Biden does better against Trump than does Sanders across the board. Yes. I still find it strange that Democrats' paradigm shift toward Biden has no near analog in the general electorate nationally or in those critical states.
