There's an article in ESPN.com today titled,

The one thing standing between Bryce Young and the Heisman? Georgia's defense

I cry bullshit on Bryce Young winning the Heisman. This is the Heisman Trophy criteria:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

So, it's not just "the best", not "the most outstanding on one of the best teams", not the "most valuable", it's:

1) the outstanding player

2) performance best exhibits pursuit of excellence with integrity.

3) epitomize great ability with diligence, perseverance and hard work.

Why is Bryce Young the favorite and not Kenny Pickett? Kenny is not even runner-up for the award according to the oddsmakers, he's fifth, (?!) Both Young and Kenny are outstanding with similar stats, on which Young does have a slight edge:

Young: 3,901 yards, 40 TD's, 4 INT's, 86.7 QB rating.
Pickett: 4,066 yards, 40 TD's, 7 INT's, 81.8 QBR.

But there's more to the criteria! P.o.E. with integrity: Nothing that I know to separate the two there.

"Epitomize great ability with diligence, perseverance and hard work." There is a distinction there: Bryce Young is a SOPHOMORE. Kenny is a SENIOR who came back for a fifth year of diligent, persevering hard work.

So, I call bullshit. Heisman ballots are due on December 6 which means that both players have one more game, their conference championship on Saturday, to make their case. If each's season stats are not changed markedly by their games then Kenny Pickett should be the winner on the Heisman Trust's stated criteria.
