Dewayne Dedmon is going to come over from his right to left to, what looks like, set a screen for Kyle.
There he his, sandwiching two “Pacers”. Kyle can lope around the three-point arc. His defender is going to run into big 7’0” D.D. And Kyle can get a clean look. But look at the lane—WIDE OPEN SPACES.
Two Indians are honed in on the more dangerous Kyle while Dedmon fakes the screen and slips into the wide open lane. The “Pacers” have no idea what Kyle’s doing—What is this a curling something?—and no idea where D.D. is and could care less.
If they want to make themselves useful these hapless “Pacers” could get their brooms and become sweepers to smooth the ice for the stone. #7 is now, “Oh.”
Now the big dummy, the other defender, “catches on.” Too late, fella. #7 looks on, having hardly moved from the top of the key.
That’s a grad school seminar put on for two high schoolers.
And look at this shot. Kyle had the “Pacers” completely befuddled tonight.
“Here I come, up the floor, I’m the point guard, I got good spacing by my teammates, there’s Duncan on my left wing, you know I can pass.” Three “Pacers” around the arc, “Yeah, you can’t fool us, we’re morons.”
One “Pacer” is of two minds about the situation. But he’s only got one body. His mind’s telling him “Mebbe I better creep up a leetle” and “He’s not going to shoot from out there.” So his body does mutually exclusive things, he moves up closer but look at his body position, he’s back on his heels. He doesn’t think Kyle is really gonna shoot from out there, he’s thinking, “He ain’t gonna blow past me, nah-ah.”
And half of his mind was right, Kyle was not going to blow past him, Kyle is going to dial up a loong distance three and since the mope was back on his heels he has to reorient his body forward. Too late, fella.
The doofus “Pacer”, that’s probably number 7 again, looks at the basket dumbfounded as the ball goes thwick through the net. #7 has got the art of looking at "Heat" baskets created or made by Kyle down.
I’m seeing why the “Heat” were so high on Kyle, how silky smooth he is, and I’m seeing how godawful the “Pacers” are.
