Reporting from Memphis
Tennessee law enforcement officials continued to condemn the Memphis police officers accused of the murder of Tyre Nichols, describing their actions in stark terms. “What Tyre experienced at the hands of these individuals was not, in any way, an act of law enforcement," Colonel Matt Perry, head of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, said in a statement late Thursday, adding, "This was a heinous incident that we in the law enforcement profession must condemn and work tirelesly to make sure it does not happen to another person.”

Never, ever seen this kind of reaction.

Reporting from Memphis

In an indication of the looming concerns about the potential reaction to video footage from the traffic stop of Tyre Nichols, which the city plans to release late Friday, the Memphis public school system has canceled after-school activities on Friday, and some events scheduled for Saturday have been postponed, according to Toni Williams, the superintendent of Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

Memphis ought to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew Friday night. They won't do it. They are not prepared, I'm telling you they are not prepared. If they had a clue they would have released the video Monday afternoon when the Nichols family wanted it released, or Tuesday morning, or Wednesday...Memphis is not prepared. Every city resident in the country is in danger, and those most at risk of being targeted are the police.
