Since Pelle got hurt (he's mended and was available last night but got a DNPCD), that has been Erik Spoelstra's starting five and rotation: Davion never starting, being the last rotation player inserted, yet playing starter's minutes. Such are the ways of Spo and who am I? However, you would have to search awhile to find a starter who was yanked after only 11' who had not gotten injured. Talking Alec Burks. Alec played fewer mins than the 8th guy in, Kyle Anderson. He played just-to-get-your-jersey-wet mins while seven other guys played more: fellow starters Kel'el 2x as many, Bam and Tyler 4x, and Davion, the last guy off the pine, 3.6x, 29 minutes more.
This was not a one game aberration. In 🌬️, Burks, starting again, played only 17', scoring only tyoo points; Davion as the tenth man, played 33 and had 15 points and 9 assists.
There are some players who thrive in a sixth man role. They get to read the game before coming in. Maybe Davion is one of those players, but he's not the sixth man, he's the ninth, or tenth, man. It is just illogical to have the 9th guy play 40'! I have called previously for Davion to start. Now a fanzine has weighed in: Spoelstra's most baffling call. It is baffling. Let me flip it: Davion played 40 of a possible 53' last night. You cannot reasonably want Spo to play him more minutes. So what do we care when Davion comes into the game? Let's move on.
