Yo No Creo en el Herald

I googled “miami heat” and after reading a couple of articles on the Summer League I landed on Heatnation and remarks that “Heat” GM Andy Elisburg made to NBA Insiders on Jimmy Butler. This is Heatnation’s transcript of the audio interview in pertinent part:

“I think Jimmy’s indicated he wants to be in Miami. And we’ve indicated we’d like Jimmy want to be in Miami. Pat has indicated in his postseason press conference that there are things he wants to see. And there’s challenges he wants to go.

“Jimmy’s not one who is familiar with having challenges and being part of being challenged. And Pat and Jimmy are two very strong-willed people who are looking for the same thing, which is ultimately to win.”

It sounded like Jimmy, it sounded like Riley, and it sounded like the typical loggerheads that this org typically likes to be at with players. Makes us fans a little uneasy to hear but that’s the “Heat” for you.

So I closed out and started scrolling some more. The Miami Herald, Anthony Chiang, had an article on the same subjects that they interviewed Elisburg on, and included what Elisburg said to NBA Insiders. This is the Herald’s transcript of the audio interview in pertinent part:

“I think Jimmy has indicated he wants to be in Miami. We’ve indicated we like Jimmy and we want him to be in Miami. Pat has indicated in his post-season press conference that there are things to see and there are challenges.

“Jimmy is familiar with having challenges and being part of being challenged. Pat and Jimmy are two very strong-willed people who are looking for the same thing, which is ultimately to win. So my view of it at the end of the day, it ultimately will work itself out.”

Almost identical, which you’d expect since all you have to do is listen to the fucking audio and type what you hear. “Almost”:

Heatnation and audio (embedded in article):

“Jimmy’s not one who is familiar with having challenges and being part of being challenged.”

Herald:

“Jimmy is familiar with having challenges and being part of being challenged.”

Heatnation was right, the Herald was wrong, wrong, wrong and the Herald got the entire meaning of what Elisburg said dead wrong.
