Donald J. Trump insisted on Saturday that he would resume holding outdoor campaign rallies, a move that contradicts the guidance from the Secret Service that he should limit his events to indoor venues after surviving an assassination attempt during his last outdoor gathering on July 13 in Butler, Pa. He said on Truth Social that the Secret Service had agreed to step up operations. Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service spokesman, said in a statement: “Ensuring the safety and security of our protectees is our highest priority,” adding that “in the interest of maintaining operational integrity, we are not able to comment on specifics of our protective means or methods.”
