Let me ask you, Sigrid Undset: Is there anything more to this book than the life of a standard-issue 14th century Norwegian girl grown woman? Is, in the last, the title fair, accurate, complete, description of the 1043 pages of content?; that there is naught greater that you express by her example?; that the mountain range of detail that you pile on the reader to forebear, that we are to climb every peak because it is there? Do not waste my time, Miss Undset, do not waste my time.
