The change set off days of public confusion...
In her round of the Sunday news shows on major networks, Dr. Walensky revealed a subtle but marked shift in her agency’s emphasis from community to individual protection. She acknowledged on Fox that “for 16 months, we’ve been telling people to be cautious, be careful, cases are going up” and made clear that the C.D.C.’s new bottom line is that individuals could make their own choices.
[Okay: For 16 months we’ve been telling “people.” Now we’re telling “individuals.”(?) Well, that is too subtle for me.]
On a practical level, jurisdictions, including communities, schools and employers, look to the C.D.C., the nation’s top public health agency, for guidance as they set policy. The new recommendations create the possibility that there will be an increasing number of unmasked people in public venues with no certainty that they have the benefit of vaccination.
[Yesterday I, fully vaccinated April 22, went to Publix. I had read that Publix was one of the businesses that were shedding the mask requirement. Just to make sure, I looked it up again. Yes. I took my mask with me anyway. When I got in the parking lot I saw an employee who was masked and asked him. No masks if fully vaccinated. “Do I need to show my card?” “No,” soft chuckle. I didn’t wear my mask.]

New York(CNN)Last week, the Centers for Disease Control advised that fully vaccinated people can be indoors and outdoors without wearing masks except when in health care settings, on public transportation, or in specified areas where masks are required.

[Dr Sanjay] Gupta said the CDC "made a critical error here in surprising basically everyone with a very significant change." He added that just days before the announcement was made, he spoke to senior leaders at the CDC who told him indoor masking would probably be the last thing to be lifted...
Another point of concern is the lack of guidance on how best to implement these new guidelines...
Dr Walensky is a fucking disaster.
