Half Ass U

I'm gonna synopsize this article for yinz yinzers.

FSU is still on the warpath about leaving the ACC, to which I have Cromwelled. Other ACC members are nearing a Cromwell moment too. "Some league reps say they would just as soon see FSU leave, freeing up potentially hundreds of millions in forfeited revenue and exit fees that would be distributed to remaining league members."

The template, such as there is one, for an FSU exit is that of Texas and Oklahoma when they gave a year's notice from the Big XII. "Such as there is one" because 1) UT and OU had a landing spot (the SEC). FSU does not, but may have, they hope, they hope, they hope, in a year. 2) FSU's media rights are owned lock, stock and tier by the ACC's until 2036 in a grant of rights that has been probed extensively and found to be impregnable. So FSU has approached JP Morgan about getting a loan. GOD!

ACC expansion to Stanford, Cal, and mebbe SMU (opposed by this here undersigned) is not completely dead, it has gone from a "Hail Mary" chance to a "3rd and 15." And as the undersigned suspected North Carolina is "the loose block in the Jenga tower” of the conference's Gang of Four opposers (FSU, Clemson, NC State, UNC). Stanford produces more athletes for the U.S. Olympics than any other school, Cal produces the fourth-most and UNC AD Bubba Cunningham has been fielding calls from his fellows on the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Bubba is also the AD who was the most irritated publicly at FSU's "barking" about leaving.

If Bubba breaks loose anytime in the next year the ACC could call a vote on expansion (FSU would still be a voting member) and the ACC would have it's 75% "Yea" for expansion (WHICH I OPPOSE!).
