Red Wine or White Wine or...

What if Ron DeSantis were not who he holds himself out to be sexually? What if his wife Karen is a beard? Does that matter? It does to me. Should that matter? I hold that it should matter to those to whom it does matter.

 I'm tired of interpreting code. If DeSantis has some sexual predilection exotic to me and he was "straight" about it, I would still hate him for his politics but I wouldn't hate him additionally for deceiving me. I've lived on Miami Beach for over 40 years. Gay men just are and they are everywhere. I don't give them a thought. A closeted gay man down here is what would be weird. Pete Buttigieg, one of the most politically-skilled, capable people in public office: irrelevant to me that he's married to a man. Now if he was hiding it going around with Brittney Spears on his arm, I wouldn't feel the same about him because he would have deceived me.

There are people who watch DeSantis' awkward mannerisms and see "cocaine jaw." Didn't even know what that was. Now that it's explained to me, okay, could be, if you say so. But that's not what I have experience with. I see "gay man smile", "gay man irrational exuberance laugh"; I hear a gay man voice when he speaks;

While...I was talking to Mme de Guermantes, I could hear a voice of a sort which henceforth I was able to identify without the least possibility of error. ...--the sound of a voice is enough. How often, in time to come, was my ear to be caught...by the intonation or laughter of some man whose artificial voice, for all that he was reproducing exactly the language of his profession or the manners of his class, affecting a stern aloofness or a coarse familiarity, was enough to indicate "He is a Charlus"...Remembrance of Things Past, Proust.

Ugly stereotyping by both the cocaine positer and me? It is stereotyping. I would rejoin that a stereotype only has traction if it is true some of the time. The cocaine positer (who is openly gay and who I follow on Twitter) has taken a lot of flak. He rejoined that "dozens" of people had alerted him to the behavior. And "How often" Proust heard "the sound of a voice" that was "enough". Ugly: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Why does this even come to my mind if I'm not bigoted? Cocaine use is illegal; being gay is not. It's the possibility that he's deceiving people that got me on this. Republicans lie, can I stereotype that? I don't like that, is that okay? I see in DeSantis' social awkwardness with Republican people gay man paranoia of being outted. Maybe it's not paranoia when it's Republicans, maybe the fear is real. I see in Karen not a trophy wife but a beard trying too hard to look like a trophy wife.

You got married at DISNEY WORLD, DeSantis? Trying too hard. Disney World is sexless. You don’t like sex with women, do you? In trying too hard you dog whistled the opposite. You then start a war with Bambi? Really, you hate females don’t you? See? How many times have we seen the gay man take virulently anti-gay political positions? Trying too hard.

The cocaine positer has no proof for his hypothesis and I have none for mine. DeSantis has forced himself on both of us and on all of us. We don't know this person. I had never listened to him speak until this whole "awkward" thing blew up. Both of us and all of us are reading code trying to identify him. Almost beyond doubt DeSantis is just anti-social, has social anxiety, like me. Almost beyond doubt.
