"Do you follow the news?" a friend asked. "Or have you gone dark?" "I read the ledes," I replied, "but it's so awful that it depresses me." "It's worse than I expected", Trump II's first month, he wrote.

I don't read news articles, they are depressing, but also my brain is rendered mush from studying with D-2. "I have a blog and it's called Public Occurrences, I do feel an obligation to at least note something other than the "Heat", so I check Google News at least once a day to make sure I don't miss some acute catastrophe."

All of that is true. My brain is so saturated that even the ledes don't stick, less stimulating me to investigate. Sometimes I forget. "You said, 'this is worse than I thought, right? Was it you who said that?", I texted him last time. "Yes, I said that."

Yesterday and today, no USMLE. No NBA either. So I cranked out a few posts, just copy and paste jobs, since I have time. "You're right", I texted my friend back last night.
