Q: It’s obvious to me that by Duncan Robinson not being available, the Heat were much better defensively and more fluid offensively. With all that’s said about the spacing the threat of his 3-point shooting creates, it does not translate into wins when his defensive deficiency and his low percentage of making threes are considered. Certainly he is not alone responsible for the recent 10-game slide, but perhaps by him being out (or sitting him) for a while, it will turn into a positive for the Heat.  – Ted, Miami.

A: The math has been relatively simple with Duncan Robinson over his Heat tenure: When he is making 3-pointers in volume and at a high percentage, he is a valued commodity; when he is not making 3-pointers in volume and at a high percentage, he is a liability. This season, at 2.5 3-pointers per game at ..387, he is down a bit from last season, but well up from two seasons ago. But it was his second and third seasons that set the standard, at 3.5 per game and above .400 from beyond the arc.
