Turned out to be nothing at Old Trafford but they had to do a controlled explosion to find that out, the package was so "incredibly lifelike."

Feel very sorry for Louis van Gaal if this turns out to be his last league contest but really, it should be his last. Following a legend is extraordinarily difficult, that was David Moyes. Following the failed successor to a legend is a piece of cake. Except when you're Louis van Gaal. If he's sacked it will be on worse terms with United supporters than it was with Moyes.

He can't say "I inherited a mess." He did, there is something wrong with the composition of the United squad, but it has been three years since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down-With a title in his last season, btw.-and two years since Moyes was canned. Van Gaal knew the squad he inherited, saw what it did and didn't do under Moyes, it is van Gaal's duty to get the squad he wants for success. He can't say "I inherited a mess."

By contrast, look at your neighbors. Manchester City's squad is going to be unrecognizable next season. Pep Guardiola will make wholesale changes. Composition of this City squad doesn't fit Pep's tiki-taka. City, coming off a second place league finish, coming off Champions League football and now going into Champions League football at your expense, announce the replacement of their manager mid-season. The mother of all lame ducks. Still manages to beat you. And will make wholesale changes to suit their new manager, the consensus best in the world, who City also beat you to.

Best of luck, United.
