On Saturday scholars from the University of Miami trailed their northern state mates Florida State more than half-way through the third quarter 27-7. The two teams had roughly 21 minutes of pigskin physics to complete this mid-term. UM had all the answers from that point on out-pointing FSU 21-0 for a 28-27 win.
Today the professionals in the city, the "Dolphins," led Cincinnati 17-0 with 9:25 left in the third, 17-3 opening the fourth quarter in which Miami got outscored 24-0 to lose 27-17. They LOST the game by being outscored 24-zip in the 4th. I had to repeat that.
Coming back to the scholars to end this, FSU professor Willie Taggart said after his team's brain cramp:
“Our guys know how to play football. We have to teach them how to win."
Hold up there, prof. You have to teach Florida State football players how to WIN?! My brother, them "Semiholes" of yourn have done about as much winnin' as God permits! It is TRUE that this particular class of scholars finished only 7-6 last year. This is Professor Taggart's first year teaching at FSU. But Willie Taggart knows that next to the word aberration in the dictionary is that 7-6 record for before that, with many of these same student athaletes Florida State went 10-3. And won the Orange Bowl. And in 2016 with some of these same scholars the team went 10-3.
That is the dadgumest dumbest thing any professor of pigskin has said in a long dadgum time is all I know and Willie Taggart better watch his p's and q's who he's gonna be coaching Western Kentucky in the near future.
