Are we being told the truth about how this virus is spread? Does CDC know?
Repeatedly, I have read and heard that coming into contact with the virus, as on a surface, on the skin, will not spread it; we have been told that the virus needs an opening--orifice, eyes, a cut. If that is true, then how in the world would the Dallas nurse, a trained professional, wearing a hazmat suit, contract the virus? She has been interviewed now by Centers for Disease Control investigators and she cannot say what the "breach of protocol" was that caused the transmission. CDC has said throughout the day that either of two procedures, kidney dialysis and intubation, performed on Thomas Eric Duncan might have been the mechanism. How? How does that occur if a nurse is wearing a hazmat suit? How would a tiny drop of Duncan's blood have gotten to an opening in her body through an opening in the hazmat suit?
Or is it not spread that way? Might it be spread through mere contact? Airborne? Repeatedly we have been told no. Between the two alternatives, a stupendous breach where not a minor breach has been discovered, and misinformation or disinformation about how Ebola is contracted, I have to go with the latter as more likely.
