Four more House members, this time members of the leadership, called on President Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, a sentiment with which I agree. One of those seniors today believed that D-Day for the president would be Tuesday when the full Democratic Caucus returns to D.C. This MC believed that rejection would cascade then and cause him to withdraw under pressure. If nearly the entire caucus issued a vote of no confidence, as it were, I would expect the president to withdraw. However, he has stated that pressure from congressional Democrats will not move him, only if voters feel the same way. Maybe polling qualifies as voter sentiment to him, but I don't know. In any event, as of Friday late afternoon the president told us very clearly that he is not withdrawing and this morning he was campaigning in Pennsylvania, giving no sign, in other words, that withdraw is even being considered by him. Maybe the senior Dem leader who predicted that it could all change on Tuesday is correct, but if he is the president is going to look very bad in withdrawing after his Shermanesque statement Friday and his campaigning today.
