Perhaps I was too hasty…

…that “something is happening” lol. Axelrod, Carville, Bennett (“landslide’), Tester, Brown: he can’t win; NY a “toss-up” (Biden +8). Oh well, it was a fun fantasy.

Nancy Pelosi is so great, so skilled:

Pelosi Hints That Biden Should Reconsider Re-Election Run (NYT)

This is the female subtle passive-aggressiveness that is so effective:

…she said she wanted to restart conversations about Mr. Biden’s political future after the NATO summit…

Ms. Pelosi’s comments appeared designed to give alarmed Democrats, who so far are mostly falling in line behind Mr. Biden, space to pivot in the coming days.

“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run,” she said. “We’re all encouraging him to make that decision. Because time is running short.”

When pressed on whether she wanted him to seek re-election, Ms. Pelosi said: “I want him to do whatever he decides to do. And that’s the way it is. Whatever he decides, we go with.”

Turning a Shermanesque “I’m not going anywhere” into an equivocal. It’s GOOD. Men have no chance against women. “It’s up to the president to decide.” And decide, and decide again and again. Soo good.

Ms. Pelosi appeared to be preserving space for a more forceful pushback from Democratic leaders at some unspecified point down the line, arguing that there was still time to change course.

Ms. Pelosi, 84, a longtime ally of the 81-year-old Mr. Biden and one of the most seasoned and cutthroat politicians in the House, has been more aggressive in her public comments about the president’s candidacy than other party leaders, who have publicly stated only that they remain behind him.

The knife is so sharp the victim doesn’t feel it going in.

I’m expressing unqualified admiration for her, not damning by faint praise. This is the way you handle men, stubborn men, stubborn Irish men, stubborn, diminished, Irish men. Give him this week, i.e. let him step on his dick one more time and he will come to the realization himself. And if he doesn’t, then Nancy becomes Barry Goldwater privately going to Nixon to tell him it’s time.
