NBA Rumors: Nightmare scenario with Jimmy Butler could be playing out for Miami Heat

I apologize if I posted on this yesterday. I sent the original tweet that I saw on this, from Bobby Marks, to a friend and described this scenario as Jimmy's nuclear option revenge on Pat Riley. 

The scenario is:

-Jimmy is not traded by the February deadline. From the leaks and reporting so far, that seems likely. Brian Windhorst said that the "Heat" think the trade offers "stink".

-According to reporting Jimmy doesn't want to pick up his ~$50M option for 2025/26. He wants to test free agency.

-If he changes his mind, which is what Marks reported, and opts in to his option, the "Heat" are really fucked. He would be on the payroll, on the org's cap space, and on the roster next season.

It is the worst of all worlds for the org, and I agree it is the best for Jimmy. Under the new CBA a trade is next to impossible. Further, if Jimmy thought, or thinks, that he can get ~$50M on the open market he is delusional. He will not get anything close to that in free agency.
