Beans!

Beans shot a blistering 55.4% (48.9%) to scorch the “Thrillers” in a 134-121 replay of the CBA Eastern Conference Finals last season. Miamiddlesbrough fell to 10-12 on the “new” campaign now more than one-quarter old.

Ultimate Wow S2 E13

The last few madcap episodes have been devoted to securing the IMF loan of $15B. When Vasya finally makes it back to Kyiv via bakery truck and yacht and, and, and, he meets with the IMF head to sign the loan agreement. The IMF head then informs him of the conditions and they repair to the celebratory press conference.

This is the season where 2,000 years ago a great star illuminated for the world the way to a manger in Bethlehem where a savior was born of the Jewish people. Four years ago, five years ago, a television series illuminated for “the whole wide world” a country and a people nearly as obscure, and nearly as great, and shone a light on their savior.

To watch that, to see him saying those words as an actor...And it's all true, and we didn't know...And it all came true...

Well yeah, that is the most mind-blowing thing I have ever experienced. Slava Ukraini.

Wow 2

I lost the plot and this is a rogue session of Parliament but Wow 2.

Saw that first on Bill Kristol’s Twitter account, re-tweeted from elsewhere. Inspired creation.

CFP Penultimate Ranking

Love this:

Three undefeateds and four different conferences represented in the top four, no one-loss ahead of a no-loss and no two-loss ahead of a one. Nothing else the committee could do with OSU at 5. “Buckeyes” and “Crimson Tide” are also done with their regular season schedules.

ESPN:

The CFP is on the brink of a field that doesn't include Ohio State, Alabama or Clemson. Let that sink in for a minute: Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State have claimed 17 of the 32 playoff spots. This season, Ohio State and Alabama didn't win their respective divisions.

Almost impossible to see UGA or UM falling out of the playoff even if they lose their conference championship games (in which they are heavy, heavy favorites). The fly in this beauty cream is SC, who have a rematch with Utah (their only loss), in the PAC 12 championship game. If the “Trojans” were to lose that would be two L’s to the same team in the same season! No can do. The committee would have to jump OSU into 4th. Would hate to see that. Go SC!

Oksana-Sergey S2 E10

After about a half dozen rounds of vodka shots at the IMF dinner Sergey is, naturally, plastered. Oksana goes in to wake his drunk ass up.

Bipartisan Love Bites! :o

Congressional Leaders Say They Will Act to Prevent Rail Strike

Democratic and Republican leaders prepared to intercede as President Biden warned the prospect of a December strike put the U.S. economy “at risk.”

No, Kevin and Mitch are not smiling but both did right by the country in agreeing to pass the legislation. Kevin’s celebratory bitching and moaning after the meeting was interrupted by a reporter who asked if the bill would pass. With a reluctant nod of the head he said “I think it will pass.”

And that was just one today.

Same-Sex Marriage Bill Passes Senate After Bipartisan Breakthrough

The 61-to-36 vote sends the legislation back to the House, which is expected to approve it and send it to President Biden.

Man, I don’t know what suddenly caused R’s to get all broke out with reasonableness! Very good day for the country, true public service by Republicans.

S2 E9

That was a pretty cute episode. I actually laughed*. There is no way Sergey can get through a meeting with the IMF head without Vasya being present and so, with Oksana's agreement, they stall for time until the next day by getting the IMF delegation drunk on vodka in "traditional Ukrainian toasts"--to everything? (P.S. Lovely Ania has been very subtly outted by Yulya, who Vasya has had released from prison and made PM so that Ukraine can get money stolen by the oligarchs (ethical sword). (P.S.S. There was a problem with the translation in E8: "consequences" was mistranslated as "coincidences".))

*I haven't laughed much in the last several episodes. Zelensky wrote Goloborodko as too much of a worrywart. Goloborodko has not embodied the good humor of the Ukrainian people much lately. Zelensky also has this odd quirk as a screenwriter, noted here before (most prominently in S2 E1), of interrupting present scenes with dreams, day or sleep, that are presented seamlessly, hence confusingly, for the audience. That occurred, agayne, in E8.

My Two Favorites!

Oksana and Sergey. They were MIA for THREE entire episodes. But, one must muddle through with Anya! Back here in S2 E9.

Sergey's pissed that Vasya isn't present for a meeting with the IMF chief. Look at the face of Oksana-the-schoolmarm-mouse!πŸ˜‚

Sergey, the FOREIGN MINISTER, doesn't even speak Ukrainian well!

She loves Sergey and reveres him. But she's RESPONSIBLE for him. She WON'T let him fail. Sergey bro, you don't stand a CHANCE with Mouse-Tiger. Just surrender and nobody will get hurt. Mouse-Tiger will never betray you or what's best for you. She is so completely out of your league and she'll hit you with her binder again. 😁
πŸ˜‚

Zelensky has his faults as a screenwriter but he hit solid gold with the Oksana-Sergey characters and relationship.

Israel First, American Jewry Second?

For much of Donald J. Trump’s presidency, Jewish Republicans rationalized away the bigoted fringe of Mr. Trump’s coalition, arguing that the unsavory supporters in his midst and the antisemitic tropes he deployed paled in comparison with the staunchly pro-Israel policies of his administration.
“We have a long history in this country of separating the moral character of the man in the White House from his conduct in office, but with Trump, it’s gone beyond any of the reasonably acceptable and justifiable norms,” Jay Lefkowitz, a former adviser to President George W. Bush and a supporter of many of Mr. Trump’s policies, said on Monday.

Lefkowitz is referring to, inter alia, Bill Clinton, right? Dildoing an intern with a cigar~hosting a dinner with an antisemite and a neo-Nazi. That those two are viewed as ~ is just stupid. That both lead to the “rationalization”: “Hey! No effect on policy!”—is a dialogue-stopper.
“Donald Trump is not an antisemite. He loves Israel. He loves Jews. But he mainstreams, he legitimizes Jew hatred and Jew haters. And this scares me.”— Morton Klein, head of the right-wing Zionist Organization of America.

This is another side. Criticism of Israel is de facto evidence, compelling, perhaps not conclusive, evidence of antisemitism. Conversely, an Israel lover is compelling evidence of Jew love. How in any rational conception can one who “mainstreams” and “legitimizes Jew hatred and Jew haters” be a Jew lover and not an antisemite? When are people going to wake up? Donald Trump loves nobody but himself. He fakes love for whomever supports him

West, a figure with an enormous following, has espoused hatred of the Jews. The basketball star Kyrie Irving has spread antisemitic views with a tweet, though he eventually apologized. Neo-Nazis are returning to Twitter, bringing memes and coded messages not seen for years, now that its new owner, Elon Musk, has reinstated accounts that had been blocked for bigotry. Mr. Musk himself on Monday tweeted a cartoon of “Pepe” the frog, a symbol adopted by the alt-right segment of the white supremacist movement. That followed a tweet last month of a German soldier from World War II, which was cited by white nationalist Telegram accounts as evidence of Mr. Musk’s like-mindedness.

And House Republican leaders say they will reinstate Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, and Paul Gosar, Republican of Arizona, to committees from which they were jettisoned by Democrats in part for their antisemitic comments or associating with white supremacists like Mr. Fuentes.

“The normalization of antisemitism is here,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League.

Yes! That is it, the “normalization” of antisemitism. Trump, West, Irving, Taylor Greene, Gosar, Fuentes—those are your new best friends, American Jewry! You severely injure your credibility, you are quisling to hatred of yourselves for this facile seperate-personal-morality-from-policy “rationalization.” Now you’re drawing a line? Bruh, that picture is near complete, you’re putting lipstick on a pig at this point!

Now, Mr. West has promised on Twitter to “go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE.” The comedian Dave Chappelle delivered a stinging monologue on “Saturday Night Live” on “the Jews” and their numbers in Hollywood. And at the same time, American Jewry is divided over whether denunciations of Mr. Trump might harm American policy toward Israel, should he return to power.—Peter Hayes, a Northwestern University historian.

Right? What is that but Israel First!🀦🏻‍♂️

“The more people prioritize Israel, the more they are willing to make excuses for Trump, and that just makes me sad,” he said.

There it is. Okay, one last thing and then enough: Well, I’ve already written it: American Jewry is calving its credibility and the resulting sea rise of antisemitism threatens to swamp those at the fringes, all for support of a foreign country. “Sad”.

Riots in Belgium, Netherlands after Morocco win at World Cup

Morocco’s victory was a major upset at the World Cup and was enthusiastically celebrated by fans with Moroccan immigrant roots in many Belgian and Dutch cities.

I can understand this one! You emigrate from your country to another and then celebrate when your old country beats your new country: that is tres bad form.

This is a thing!

Students sent home, police on patrol as China curbs protests

With police out in force, there was no word of protests Tuesday in Beijing, Shanghai or other major mainland cities that saw crowds rally over the weekend. Those widespread demonstrations were unprecedented since the army crushed the 1989 student-led pro-democracy movement centered on Beijing’s Tiananmen Square.

CATS!

The Pittsburgh "PANTHERS" short-pants basketball team, 4-3 going in, had one of their most impressive wins of the Jeff Capel era tonight. They won at 5-1 Northwestern, a 7-point favorite, by 29 :o, 87-58 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Shocking margin, truly.😳Glorious win. Light it Up!

Don't know WHERE that came from but sure hope it stays and makes itself at home. #H2P!

Florida Man Declines to be Ye’s Running Mate

Proportionate Responses to the Ohio Apocalypse

Fire Ryan Day And Expel All Ohio State Students Sophomore Year And Below

No, I’m not joking. This is unacceptable. Two years in a row when we’ve had the better team is a fireable offense. Ryan Day, you were born on 3rd base, and now we’re back on 1st. You are not fit to be The Ohio State University Head Football Coach. Fire him tonight.

Lane Kiffin. Brian Hartline. Mike Vrabel. URBAN MEYER. I don’t care who it is. This current guy needs to go. And to everyone below their sophomore year should have to transfer. I’m not talking just players. I’m talking ALL OHIO STATE STUDENTS. You’re now 0-2 against the rival and something needs to be done about it. My parents didn’t pay my tuition for 4 years for me to watch this embarrassment. True story: I almost transferred after my freshman year because we lost to Michigan, but then I realized it was because we had an interim coach and our lord and savior Urban Meyer was coming. From there, we went 3-0 and rattled off 7 straight. That’s how it should be. Ohio State has better players. The last two years, Michigan has been more prepared, better coached, and won.

And this isn’t just on Ryan Day. Defensive Coordinator Jim Knowles was brought here for this game and he gave up 45 points. Fire everybody. Start over tomorrow. I want Urban Meyer back.

Is Ryan Day a Michigan inside guy? That’s a legitimate question after today. Running it on 1st and 35 and also being down late with 3 straight runs and a punt? Ryan Day, now 33-2 in the Big Ten, is the worst coach in Ohio State history.

Fire Day and restart the program tomorrow. Ryan Day better not be on the team bus back. Call Urban Meyer IMMEDIATELY.

Column: Ohio State isn’t going to fire Ryan Day, but they should

Penn State?

Day’s record in these games? 1-5. The Wolverines he beat in 2019 were a four-loss team. You can give him credit for wins against Penn State, but Ohio State has won 10 of the last 11 games in that series and would be a perfect 11-0 if not for a blocked field goal, so once again, talent gap.

Notre Dame?

Notre Dame this season? Meh.

Clemson?

That one win over Clemson in 2020 was a game that was planned for over a full-year’s span. 🀣The results in big games just have not been there, and Day has been at fault in a number of these losses.

The recruiting is a valid point, but how hard is it really to convince the best players in the country to an already established elite brand like Ohio State? …

Column: Ohio State isn’t going to fire Ryan Day, so what’s next?

I’m going to say something that is probably going to be a little bit controversial today: I’m not ready to say that Ryan Day should be fired as Ohio State’s head coach. I know that there are a lot of people in Buckeye Nation — and many here at Land-Grant Holy Land — who disagree vehemently, and honestly have been ready for such a drastic step long before yesterday’s failure in The Game.

Technically the “Heat” lost, 11387, but if you take away that 11-0, 10-0, 8-0 and concentrate on quarters we DOMINATED them in the 4th by 5 and lost the first only by one little peepy point so combining the 1st and 4th we won by 4. So yeah.
