In the middle of a murder trial, I walked out of court to summon the
next witness.
Judge John Moore was chatting with the Coroner, a witness-in-waiting.
Judge Moore had put himself through law school while a police detective,
and an excellent one.
"Doc, you're up," I said to the Coroner, while simultaneously shaking
Judge Moore's hand.
"Hey Judge, how you doin'?," I said.
"I can't get him to call me John...," he said to the Coroner.
"I would never do that..."
"I can't get my friends to call me John and I can't get my wife to call
me Your Honor."
Both of us laughing, Dr. Singh and I parted from the judge and entered
the courtroom.
